If you need help with access to online platforms, especially Clever, please send an email to helpdesk@ousd.org. You can send the following message: "My name is ______ and I am a district substitute who needs access to Clever."

Technology for Substitute Teachers

If you need to find out more about a grade level or specific content area, we recommend looking at grade level pages or academic content pages here in Teacher Central. You can navigate to them by clicking on the follow links: Grades PK-5 | Grades 6-12.  These pages will include more information about curriculum and instructional scope and sequence for the year. 

Aeries - Student Information System

Aeries is used for attendance and when student information is listed. You should take attendance in Aeries and can be given a temporary login from the office staff at your job site. With these temporary credentials you can sign in and take attendance. The attendace by photo option can also be helpful when learning student names and faces.

Clever

Clever is used at many school sites across the district. In order to access Clever and the linked resources, you will need to have a Clever account. You should be able to sign in through the Clever OUSD portal at clever.com/in/ousd. Use the "Log in with Google" button. If prompted, use your OUSD login credentials. If you need to access Clever, send a email to the OUSD helpdesk at: helpdesk@ousd.org.

Google Workspace

OUSD uses the Google Workspace for Education suite across school sites and content areas as a way to share lesson materials and create student assignments. More information about Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Classroom and more can be found on the Google Workspace for Education page. If you are looking for information about Google Classroom, you can find it on the Google Classroom page

i-Ready 

i-Ready is an instructional and assessment platform. Students can work through lessons in both math and english. 

Students and educators can navigate to i-Ready by logging into Clever first and then selecting the i-Ready icon.

GoGuardian

GoGuardian allows teachers to monitor and supervise student activity when they are using computers in the classroom. Connection through GoGuardian is possible as a substitute, but does require a few steps.

Britannica School

Britannica School is available through Clever and has resources available in both English and Spanish, across all grade levels. This resource could be useful if you are in need of finding reading materials or supplements for student work.

SORA

Sora is an app that lets all students in OUSD access audiobooks and ebooks from the district library collection and the Oakland Public Library.  All OUSD students are able to sign into Sora on their laptop, phone or tablet using their Clever Account. You do not need a library card to use Sora.

Kahoot!

If you are looking for a way to engage students and need supplemental materials, Kahoot! might be a good resource for you. Kahoot! has a library of free pre-made quizzes across content areas that you can use with the class. Students can play along on their own device or you can play whole class by using a projector. You will need to have a hook-up to a projector and computer in order to use this resource. Login using your OUSD Google credentials and navigate to the Basic or Free page to get started. You will login in at kahoot.com to pick a Kahoot and students login at kahoot.it to play.

Epic!

Epic School is free for educators and students with class code login access from 7 am to 3 pm when school is physically in session. As of the 2023 school year, there has been a change to access in the free Epic School account. Some books or collections may have been impacted.

In order to login in to login to Epic! you will need to go to https://www.getepic.com/ and select "I'm an Educator".

Different classes and different school sites use a variety of educational programs. More information about some online programs can be found in the Online Programs section of Teacher Central. You can also navigate to individual subpages for specific programs.
